The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board has created an internet gateway for reserving homestays in the hill state.

Bookings for Uttarakhand homestays can now be made through their website. This is perhaps the first time a state tourist department has developed a state-sponsored homestay booking service.

Homestay owners can integrate their properties on the network by submitting information about them and signing an agreement. Homestay owners would not be asked to pay integration or platform fees, or to split a portion of their revenue with Uttarakhand Tourism.

The portal must provide the general public with accurate information on homestays as well as a simple online booking system. Users may also rank Homestays on the platform, which provides real-time feedback on their services and encourages them to improve.

Uttarakhand Tourism has about 5,000 homestays registered with the Department. Uttarakhand Tourism stated that it is committed to promoting the local economy through various tourism-related initiatives, and that this project is another step toward assisting homestay businesses by offering an internet platform at no cost to them.

This program aims to give small homestay owners with an internet booking platform. The Uttarakhand Tourism Department is offering subsidies under the Deendayal Upadhyay Homestay Scheme to help develop homestays in the region.

Homestay owners are also receiving training in a variety of skills and services to help them improve their customer service. The tourist agency has added another dimension to its promotion of homestays by launching this online platform.

Shri Sachin Kurve, Secretary Tourism/CEO, UTDB, stated that this three-pronged strategy, which includes government subsidy for the creation of homestay infrastructure, skill-based training for homestay owners, and marketing support through an online portal, will be a milestone in establishing a robust homestay network in the state.

He further mentioned that all homestay owners are invited to register their properties on the web.

The future plan involves linking Homestays with wellness centers in respective areas so that the tourists can avail benefits of the services of wellness centers like Yoga, Naturopathy, Panch Karma, Ayurvedic Massages etc.
