Ex-LeT Member Noor Dahri Exposes Hafiz Saeed’s Recruitment Network and Militant Machinery

Noor Dahri Exposes Hafiz Saeed’s Lashkar-e-Taiba Network in Revealing Testimony

In a shocking and deeply personal account posted on X (formerly Twitter), former Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) member Noor Dahri unveiled the disturbing reality of life within one of Pakistan’s most notorious militant outfits. In his lengthy post, Dahri detailed how he was drawn into LeT’s ranks, his close association with founder Hafiz Saeed, and the harrowing experiences that led to his eventual disillusionment and exit from the terror group.

From Aspiring Doctor to Militant Guard

Noor Dahri shared that he had once dreamed of becoming a doctor—a vision encouraged by his late mother. However, those aspirations were derailed during his youth by the powerful influence of Hafiz Saeed’s radical speeches and the charisma surrounding the LeT leadership.

Dahri recalled being assigned to guard Hafiz Saeed at his residence and the group’s headquarters in Muridkay. He described Saeed’s vehicle—a modified blue Toyota Vigo Datsun with a sleeping compartment in the rear—hinting at the militarized lifestyle embraced even in civilian surroundings.

A Glimpse Inside LeT’s Recruitment and Training Operations

Dahri offered rare insight into the organizational scale of LeT, stating that nearly 500 young recruits would arrive every Thursday from across Pakistan to attend training at a camp named Ma’askar Tayyba in Afghanistan’s Kunar Province. These recruits were reportedly inspired by the fiery rhetoric delivered by Hafiz Saeed, which glorified jihad and martyrdom.

“Most of them never returned,” Dahri lamented, highlighting the grave fate awaiting many who were indoctrinated and sent into conflict zones like Indian-administered Kashmir and Afghanistan.

Breaking Point: Disillusionment in Kashmir and Afghanistan

What began as religious zeal gradually gave way to brutal reality for Dahri. He claimed his decision to abandon LeT stemmed from the atrocities and manipulations he witnessed firsthand. The group’s “true face,” as he put it, became impossible to ignore.

When he voiced his desire to leave, LeT commanders allegedly branded him a “coward,” a common tactic to shame defectors and silence internal dissent. Nevertheless, Dahri chose to walk away.

A Powerful Accusation Against Hafiz Saeed

In his statement, Dahri made the bold claim that LeT has nearly one million trained militants at its disposal, establishing it as a formidable force within Pakistan.

He directly blamed Hafiz Saeed for “the deaths of thousands of Pakistanis”, accusing him of sacrificing countless young lives in what he termed a “war of ashes” designed to further Pakistan’s political objectives. “I wish to see his disgraceful end in my life,” Dahri wrote, expressing bitter condemnation of his former leader.

A New Mission: Exposing Extremism

Concluding his post, Dahri declared he is now in a “better place”—not in terms of geography, but in ideological clarity and purpose. “Allah has chosen me to expose the dark faces of Islamists,” he stated, adding a defiant “Alhamdulillah.”

Today, Noor Dahri identifies as a counter-terrorism expert and vocal critic of Islamist extremism, dedicating himself to exposing radical networks and warning others against the paths he once walked.
