Punjab’s ‘Sikhya Kranti’ Initiative: A Game-Changer for Government Schools
In a significant stride towards educational reform, Punjab’s School Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, inaugurated infrastructure development projects worth over ₹84 lakh in ten government schools across the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency. This initiative is part of the state’s ambitious ‘Sikhya Kranti’ program, aiming to modernize educational facilities and enhance learning experiences for students.
Comprehensive Infrastructure Upgrades Across Ten Schools
The inaugurated projects encompass a range of improvements in high, middle, and primary schools within the constituency. Notable developments include:
- Government Primary Smart School Majara: Construction of a boundary wall (₹5.10 lakh) and renovation of classrooms (₹6.31 lakh).
- Government Primary Smart School Lang Majari: Boundary wall construction and renovation works totaling ₹12.6 lakh.
- Government Primary Smart School Chandesar: New toilet block and renovation works amounting to ₹5.67 lakh.
- Government Primary Smart School Mehroli: Classroom renovations valued at ₹7.33 lakh.
- Government Primary Smart School Khamera: Boundary wall and other development works costing ₹8 lakh.
- Government Primary Smart School Ghnaru: Classroom renovations totaling ₹4.85 lakh.
- Government Primary Smart School Agampur: Construction of new classrooms and renovations worth ₹11.16 lakh.
- Government Middle School Gara: Boundary wall constructed at a cost of ₹2 lakh.
- Government High School Agampur: Construction of three classrooms and a boundary wall, totaling ₹21.53 lakh.
Additionally, Minister Bains announced grants of ₹10 lakh for Government Primary Smart School Majara and ₹40 lakh for Government Primary Smart School Chandesar to further enhance their facilities.
‘Sikhya Kranti’: A Vision for Educational Excellence
The ‘Sikhya Kranti’ initiative, launched by the Punjab government, is a comprehensive program aimed at transforming government schools into centers of excellence. The program focuses on providing modern learning facilities, including high-speed Wi-Fi, clean drinking water, separate toilets for boys and girls, smart classrooms, integrated science labs, interactive panels, playgrounds, and modern furniture.
