Following Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s directive to postpone the transfer of 5,000 teachers in the interim, Education Minister Atishi declared that they would vehemently reject any further attempts to halt Delhi’s educational revolution.

Following LG Saxena’s order to temporarily block the transfer of 5,000 Delhi government school teachers, she made these remarks.

“Through its LG, the BJP moved 5,000 government school instructors overnight on July 2. The Minister of Education in Delhi did not provide the go-ahead for this transfer. Together with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, these 5000 teachers had changed schools during the past ten years, which is why they were relocated. These are the educators, whose labors have made the city’s government schools superior to private ones today,” the AAP chief stated on Sunday.

The AAP leader expressed satisfaction with LG Saxena’s decision to halt teacher transfers and said the party will continue to defend educators’ rights and Delhi’s children’s education.

“However, we had already pledged that the Arvind Kejriwal administration in Delhi would not allow the schools to suffer. We shall not give up on defending the rights of educators and the education of Delhi’s youth. We are glad that the BJP and their LG had to halt the 5000 teachers’ move today. We will vehemently reject any future attempts to halt Delhi’s education revolution,” she continued.

Ajay Veer Yadav, the general secretary of the Government Schools Teachers Association of India, met with LG Saxena on Sunday to discuss the school teacher transfer order. Yadav reported that the L-G had promised to form a committee and reexamine the transfer policy.

“We visited with the L-G of Delhi today, and they have greatly relieved us by rescinding this order. A committee will be established, according to the L-G, and the transfer policy will be reviewed.

In a statement posted on its official X Twitter on Sunday, Raj Niwas Delhi, which is managed by the Delhi LG Secretariat, stated that “VK Saxena had received several representations from different government school teacher’s Associations and met their delegation today at Raj Niwas.”

The statement went on to say, “VK Saxena, is consistently striving for better service conditions for government employees so that they can perform optimally.”

According to the report, Saxena has counseled the Chief Secretary and the Directorate of Education to examine the most recent teacher transfer orders with compassion, objectivity, and fairness. “He (VK Saxena) has suggested that in the interim, the orders be kept in abeyance.”

In a previous letter on July 4, Atishi instructed Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to promptly revoke the teacher transfer order that was issued on July 2.

Additionally, the minister of education for Delhi requested that any additional mandatory teacher transfers be immediately halted for the simple reason that teachers had served ten years at one particular school.

“All teachers who have worked in the same schools for more than ten years are required to apply for a transfer under clause 16 of this circular; if they fail to do so, the DoE will transfer them to any school,” Atishi stated. She went on to say that approximately 5,000 teachers who failed to apply for a transfer were moved to different schools as a result of this controversial clause.

Additionally, the Delhi Education Minister instructed the Chief Secretary to launch a vigilance inquiry into potential corruption and malpractice in the teacher transfer process, as well as to initiate disciplinary proceedings against any officers who willfully disobeyed the July 1, 2024 directive pertaining to the mandatory transfer of teachers simply because they have completed ten years of service in a particular school.
