When Mohammed Shami Almost Ended His Life

Mohmmad shami

Mohammed Shami, India’s fast bowler, was the nation’s toast during the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he took the most wickets. Shami took 24 wickets in seven matches at a staggering average of 10.71.

However, in 2018, he became implicated in a match-fixing incident, which changed his life. The pacer was worried not only about the fixing incident, but also about charges made by his wife Hasin Jahan. Shami’s friend Umesh Kumar remembered a disturbing episode in which the India pacer considered suicide as well.

“It was also said that he planned to commit suicide that night. It was around 4 a.m. when I got up to sip water. I was on my way to the kitchen when I noticed he was standing on the balcony.

We were residing on the nineteenth floor. I understood what had happened. “That night in Mohammed Shami’s career, I believe, was the longest,” Umesh told the sources.

Mohammed Shami is presently recovering from injuries sustained during the ODI World Cup 2023. He last appeared in the final of the flagship event against Australia, contested at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The pacer is expected to make a comeback in the forthcoming Test series against Bangladesh, which begins in September this year, and then Rohit Sharma and Co. will fly to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, where Shami will be an important cog for India.
