According to reports, the latest beta version of WhatsApp on iOS shows the Nearby transfer option, which allows users to transfer data across the platform wirelessly and without an internet connection

WhatsApp, Meta’s instant messaging network, is aiming to debut a new feature that will allow users to transfer files on iOS devices without having internet access. Similar to Apple’s Airdrop, this tool will make file sharing easier.

According to WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, the feature was previously tested for Android users and may soon arrive on iOS via the TestFlight beta program in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 24.15.10.70.

he latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, available on TestFlight, includes a Nearby Share feature.

In the beta, the software allows you to send files directly to neighboring devices over WhatsApp, even when internet availability is weak.

To transfer files, a QR code is generated, which the devices at the receiving end must scan. Android users have to rely on nearby device detection.

Data might be shared across Android and iOS devices using this functionality, which is designed to improve cross-platform sharing.

The feature has no formal debut date because it is still in the early phases of development.

WhatsApp has been working on features to make cross-platform sharing more convenient. According to reports, WhatsApp is also testing a new chats migration tool, which would allow smartphone users to transfer talks from one device to another without the need for uploading to cloud storage services.

WhatsApp is also apparently going to unveil a new feature that would allow users to create usernames for their profiles.

According to WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, users will be able to create usernames to connect with others instead of exchanging phone numbers.
