UTTAR PRADESH POLICE EXAMS

Uttar Pradesh police recruitment dates OUT for 60,244 constable posts; written exam, free travel to exam centre and more

The exam dates for the Uttar Pradesh Police’s constable recruitment drive have been released. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has notified 60,244 constable vacancies in the civil police.

Direct recruitment for these civil police positions will be based on merit, as determined by a written examination. The Recruitment and Promotion Board will conduct the exams on August 23, 24, 25, and August 30, 31, according to an official press release.

The written exam will be administered in two shifts on each of the above dates. Each shift would have up to 5 lakh students taking the exam.

The direct recruitment exam for constable positions has been delayed following orders from the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to guarantee the highest levels of honesty and transparency in the administration of these exams.
On June 19, the Uttar Pradesh government provided specific rules for test centre selection, exam preparation, candidate verification, and anti-impersonation measures. The examination will follow these protocols to ensure the selection process is transparent and fair.

In light of the recent controversy surrounding the NEET UG medical entrance exam, which has been accused of irregularities and paper leaks, the responsible authorities will apply heavy penalties for any malpractices committed during the exam. On July 1, the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Ordinance-2024 (Uttar Pradesh Ordinance No. 6 of 2024) was issued to that effect.

The press statement added: “This ordinance stipulates severe penalties, including fines up to one crore rupees and life imprisonment, for using or facilitating unfair means during the exam.”

Furthermore, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has arranged for complimentary bus service for students taking the examination. To use this service, candidates must download two additional copies of their admission card, which must be presented to the bus conductor during travel.
