Bihar Takes a Major Leap in Healthcare Development with New AIIMS and Health Projects Inaugurated by Union Minister JP Nadda

Union Health Minister JP Nadda was in Bihar on Saturday to oversee a series of significant health infrastructure projects aimed at boosting healthcare services in the state. His visit included an inspection of the proposed site for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga, as well as inaugurating new health projects in Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga.

Darbhanga AIIMS: A Future Healthcare Hub The primary highlight of Nadda’s visit was the inspection of the proposed site for AIIMS Darbhanga, located in Shobhan, Mithila region. The upcoming AIIMS is expected to provide world-class healthcare services, not only to the people of Bihar but also to the neighboring states. Nadda emphasized that the establishment of this institute is part of the government’s broader strategy to eliminate regional healthcare disparities and ensure that quality medical services are accessible to all.

“The upcoming AIIMS in Darbhanga will play a pivotal role in transforming the healthcare landscape of Bihar, providing top-tier medical facilities to the state and the region. This institution will not only serve as a center for health but will also create employment and educational opportunities,” Nadda said during his address.

Inauguration of Super-Specialty Block at Darbhanga Medical College In addition to his site inspection at AIIMS Darbhanga, Nadda inaugurated a newly built super-specialty block at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). The state-of-the-art facility, constructed at a cost of Rs 150 crore, is expected to significantly enhance the medical services offered in the region. It will cater to patients requiring specialized medical attention and also serve as a training hub for future medical professionals.

Accompanied by Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and state Health Minister Mangal Pandey, Nadda expressed optimism about the project. “This new facility will play a crucial role in providing advanced health services to the people of Bihar and neighboring states. It stands as a testimony to the government’s commitment to public welfare and creating a brighter future for the state,” he shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Visit to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) Earlier in the day, Nadda inspected the ongoing construction at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), a project with an estimated budget of Rs 5540 crore. Upon completion, this state-of-the-art facility will boast over 5,462 beds, making it one of the largest medical institutions in the region. During his visit, Nadda reviewed the progress and assured that the hospital would offer world-class services to the residents of Patna and beyond.

“This project will transform PMCH into a modern medical institution equipped with cutting-edge technology and infrastructure. The hospital is expected to serve as a critical healthcare provider, not just for Bihar, but for other parts of the country,” Nadda noted in his post on X.

Health Initiatives in Muzaffarpur As part of his visit, Nadda also inaugurated a super-specialty block at Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur. This new facility will expand the hospital’s capacity to cater to patients requiring specialized care.

During his visit, Nadda praised the efforts of the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in improving healthcare infrastructure across the country. He reiterated the government’s commitment to reducing regional imbalances in healthcare facilities, noting that Bihar is on track to become a major hub for medical services in the country.

“The NDA government is dedicated to ensuring that healthcare services are accessible to every citizen, no matter where they are located. Bihar, in particular, is witnessing a revolutionary change in healthcare, with new institutions and upgraded infrastructure being developed rapidly,” he added.

With these developments, Bihar is poised to become a key player in India’s healthcare landscape, benefiting from both modern medical infrastructure and increased employment opportunities in the health sector.
