New Delhi : To reduce road accidents, defects such as bad turns and speed breakers will be eliminated. Transportation Minister Nitin Gadkari has issued instructions to implement significant changes to reduce accidents over the next two years. From 2025, front and rear seatbelt alarms will be mandatory in light-weight private and public vehicles. This rule will also apply to heavy vehicles from 2026. According to the Ministry of Road Transport, vehicles manufactured after March 31, 2025, will be required to have a belt alarm system installed for both front and rear seats. Failure to comply will incur a fine of one thousand rupees. However, this system has not been installed in all vehicles yet. This rule will also be implemented in buses, travelers, and mini-buses from 2026.
