Patna, 01 December 2024: – The Chief Minister, Shri Nitish Kumar, today felicitated the players of the victorious Indian Women’s Hockey Team of the Bihar Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024, the Chief Coach, the SPART staff and all those who have contributed to the success of the event, at a felicitation ceremony held at the auditorium of Bapu Tower. The Chief Minister gave away cash awards of Rs. 10-10 lakh to the winning team and Rs. 5 lakh to the chief coach and Sarpo Ting staff of the team. The officers and officials of various departments who contributed in making the event a grand success were also felicitated. On the winning of the championship by the Indian team, the Chief Minister had immediately announced to honour the entire team including the players of the team with the prize money on the same day.
During the felicitation ceremony, the Chief Minister presented Rs. 10-10 lakh each to Shri Harendra Singh, Captain of Indian Women’s Hockey Team Ms. Salima Tete, Vice Captain of Indian Women’s Hockey Team Ms. Navneet Kaur, players Ms. Sharmila Devi, Ms. Bichu Devi Kharibam, Ms. Priya Sirahi, Ms. Savita, Ms. Sangeeta Kumari, Ms. Mumtaz Khan, Ms. Udita, Ms. Vaishnavi Vittal Phalke, Ms. Lalremsiami, Ms. Baljit Kaur, Ms. Jyoti, Ms. Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Ms. Sunelita Tappo, Ms. Neha, Ms. Preeti Dubey, Ms. Manisha Chauhan, Ms. Ishika Chaudhary, Ms. Beauty Dungdung and Ms. Deepika. Among the staff members, Ms. Billawa Suresh Ankita, Mr. Adrian D’Souza, Mr. Arthur Lucas, Mr. Dave Small, Ms. Rakhi Vinay Daran, Ms. Priya Sirahi, Mr. Edison Elias, Ms. Francis Pushpavathi and Mr. Amutha Prakash Perumal were also awarded Rs. 5 lakh each.

Vice-Chancellor of Nalanda University Abhay Kumar Singh, officials of Building Construction Department, Information and Public Relations Department, Sports Department, Bihar State Civil Aviation Authority, Bihar Police Academy, Nalanda District Administration, Gaya District Administration were also felicitated by the Chief Minister with a citation for their excellent work and cooperation in this field.
It may be recalled that Rajgir had witnessed the successful conduct of the first ever international level tournament Bihar Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024 in Bihar from November 11 to 20.
Teams from six countries – China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and India – participated in the tournament. The Indian women’s hockey team won the bronze medal after defeating China in the final.
At the outset, the Chief Minister was welcomed by Dr. B. Rajender N. Shaul Bhantkar, Principal Secretary, General Administration and Sports, while Shri Bhaila Nath Singh, Secretary General, Hockey India welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him a memento.

A documentary on the successful conduct of the Bihar Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, produced by the Department of Sports and Bihar State Sports Authority, was screened at the event.
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Mr. Deepak Kumar, Development Commissioner Mr. Pratyaya Amrit, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. B. Rajender, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Kumar Ravi, Secretary Building Construction Mr. Ravinder Sankaran, Commissioner Patna Mr. Mayank Barbade, Patna District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Rajiv Mishra, Director General of Police Mr. Mahendra Kumar, Secretary Hockey India Mr. Bhaila Nath Singh, Indian Women’s Hockey Team Captain Mr. Harendra Singh, Indian Women’s Hockey Team Captain Ms. Salima Tete, Vice Captain Ms. Navneet Kaur along with all the players, supporting staff and officials of Indian Women’s Hockey Team and their team members.
