Dehradun – Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami felicitated meritorious students at the Sanskrit Student Talent Felicitation Programme held at the Chief Sevak Sadan, Chief Minister’s Camp Office. During the event, Dhami distributed the Gargi Girls Sanskrit Scholarship and the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Sanskrit Scholarships to outstanding performers.
The Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated a Competitive Examination Self-Study Centre and an e-Sanskrit Conversation Camp, initiatives aimed at promoting Sanskrit learning and enhancing academic preparation. Additionally, he released ‘Sanskrit Varta’, the quarterly journal of Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, underscoring the importance of preserving and promoting Sanskrit and encouraging students to contribute to the language’s enrichment and India’s cultural heritage.
Kumbh Mela Preparations Reviewed
On February 22, CM Dhami chaired a high-level meeting in Haridwar to review preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela, describing the event as “divine, grand, and historic.” He emphasized that ensuring smooth movement, enhanced facilities, and robust security for devotees is the government’s top priority, stating that no shortcomings would be tolerated.

Dhami Sets October Deadline for Kumbh Preparations
Dhami directed officials to complete all Kumbh-related works by October 2026, calling for inter-departmental coordination to ensure swift implementation of decisions. The meeting at the Mela Control Building included updates on previous directives, progress reports on ongoing works, and reviews of zone- and sector-level preparations.
He noted that approvals for major permanent structures have been granted, while proposals for temporary works should be finalized and completed within set timelines. Quality standards and deadlines are to be strictly adhered to, and third-party audits will monitor construction progress.

Regarding transport and parking, Dhami advised officials to plan alternative routes and ensure safe and convenient movement for devotees, with special attention to women and elderly participants. Sanitation across the Kumbh area is to be strengthened, with support from voluntary organizations. Healthcare arrangements will also be enhanced, including the provision of boat and bike ambulance services to transport ill devotees to the nearest medical centers.
