Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday met with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat in a private session at Saraswati Sishu Mandir in Nirala Nagar. The meeting, which began around 8 pm, lasted nearly 40 minutes. No official statement was released regarding the discussions.
Bhagwat’s repeated visits to Uttar Pradesh have drawn attention, especially with the state Assembly elections scheduled for 2027. Political analysts suggest these visits carry significant political implications. Earlier this year, Bhagwat spent ten days in Mathura in January, followed by a three-day visit to Gorakhpur in February. His current trip to Lucknow is part of the RSS’s centenary outreach programme.
During his visit on Tuesday, Bhagwat spoke on issues such as the declining Hindu population, religious conversions through coercion, the need to deport infiltrators, and the importance of Hindu unity. Wednesday marked the final day of his two-day stay in the state capital.
Focus on 2027 UP Assembly Elections
Sources indicate that the meeting between the RSS chief and CM Yogi Adityanath centered on preparing a strategy for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Discussions reportedly included strengthening the Hindutva narrative across the state.
Yogi Adityanath, known for highlighting issues related to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Ram Mandir, and Krishna Janmabhoomi, reportedly deliberated with Bhagwat on promoting these agendas in a coordinated manner. Approximately 200,000 RSS workers may be mobilised in Uttar Pradesh to connect with the public, communicate government schemes, and ensure outreach to beneficiaries.
Discussions on SIR and Immigration
The meeting also covered the Special Investment Regions (SIR) initiative. Bhagwat emphasized that BJP supporters should remain actively engaged with SIR projects, and coordination between the RSS and the government is crucial. Reports suggest discussions also included action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the state.

Sources further indicate that the RSS aims to leverage Yogi Adityanath’s Hindutva agenda to consolidate social support and secure a strong majority for the BJP-led “double engine” government in 2027.
Yogi Adityanath to Host Mega 2026 Hindu Unity Conference with RSS and BJP Leaders
Bhagwat reportedly conveyed to the Chief Minister the plan to organise a large-scale conference of Hindutva organisations and religious leaders in Uttar Pradesh in 2026. The event would include senior BJP leaders, RSS office-bearers, and religious figures from across India, aiming to promote Hindu unity ahead of the Assembly elections.
