UP to produce advanced cancer and cardiology devices under Rs 587 crore med-tech project, generating 2,900 jobs and boosting healthcare innovation.
Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ‘Make in UP’ initiative, Uttar Pradesh is poised to become a global hub for medical technology. Invest UP, in coordination with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), has issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) granting 10 acres of land in the Medical Devices Park to Shukra Pharmaceuticals Limited.
The proposed ₹587 crore investment is expected to generate around 2,900 direct and indirect jobs and significantly reduce India’s dependence on imported medical devices. The project aims to manufacture high-quality, affordable medical equipment domestically.
A notable feature of the project is the indigenous production of Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) technology, a cutting-edge treatment for complex and severe cancers that India has previously relied on foreign sources for.

The facility will also produce essential cardiology devices such as heart valves, stents, and Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs). In the imaging and radiology sector, equipment including CT scanners, MRI machines, PET scanners, and ultrasonography systems will be manufactured within India.
Furthermore, the unit will focus on next-generation healthcare solutions, including AI-powered and robotic surgical systems. This will cover soft-tissue surgical robots, orthopaedic and dental robotic systems, and advanced neuro-spine robotic platforms for complex brain and spinal surgeries.
The project will also support skill development and medical education by introducing advanced medical simulators to enhance the training of doctors and paramedical staff.
Officials emphasized that this initiative reflects Uttar Pradesh’s progress toward ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, positioning the state as a center for high-tech medical innovation. With indigenous cancer treatment technologies, affordable diagnostics, and precision robotic surgery, the upcoming medical technology hub is expected to strengthen India’s healthcare infrastructure substantially.
