Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to begin an official visit to Singapore and Japan starting February 22. A major highlight of the Japan leg will be his exposure to the country’s cutting-edge rail technology.
During the trip, CM Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to take a 100-kilometre test ride on Japan’s advanced Maglev train, which floats above the tracks using magnetic levitation, allowing it to travel at speeds exceeding 600 kmph.
CM Yogi Adityanath to Explore Japan’s Next-Generation Rail Technology
The visit aims to familiarize the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with Japan’s next-generation railway systems, with the goal of exploring options to modernize and expand Uttar Pradesh’s transportation infrastructure. Japan is currently developing an ambitious Maglev corridor between Tokyo and Nagoya, which is expected to be operational by 2027.

Officials stated that the trip will help CM Yogi study advanced mobility solutions that could enhance connectivity and urban transport in high-density and fast-growing areas of Uttar Pradesh.
Attire During the Visit
Reports also highlight the Chief Minister’s attire for the overseas trip. CM Yogi is expected to wear traditional saffron robes in both Singapore and Japan, a rare instance of a constitutional officeholder traveling abroad in such attire. However, during formal engagements in Japan, he is likely to wear shoes instead of his customary sandals, in line with local customs.
As part of his cultural visits, CM Yogi is also scheduled to visit the Hanuman Temple in Japan.
