Punjab Celebrates 649th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib

The state-level function highlighted the Guru’s teachings on equality, compassion, and humanity, with devotees and dignitaries offering prayers for peace and prosperity.

The second day of the state-level celebration at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib commemorating the 649th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji concluded with deep devotion, spiritual fervour, and serenity, as numerous devotees paid their respects at the Sri Guru Ravidass Ji Memorial and prayed for the welfare, prosperity, peace, and happiness of humanity.

Organisers stated that the grand samagam will continue until February 6, concluding with the bhog of Sri Akhand Sahib Ji, and noted that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will also participate on the final day, offering prayers for the progress, unity, and peace of the state.

The occasion was further enriched by the presence of revered saints, including Sant Baba Inder Das Ji of Dera Sat Sahib, Meghowal Ganjian, Sant Mahinder Das Ji, Sant Prem Das Ji, and Sant Sanjeev Das Ji, who highlighted the teachings of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji, urging devotees to embrace values of equality, compassion, love, and humanity in daily life.

Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, and Chairman of the Punjab State SC Commission Dr. Jasvir Singh Garhi also paid obeisance and joined the gathering in prayers for the well-being of the state and nation.

Addressing the devotees, Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri said, “The life of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji teaches society the path of equality, brotherhood, and social justice. His teachings remain highly relevant today and inspire us to work for nation-building with harmony, tolerance, and a spirit of service.” He also appreciated the Punjab Government’s efforts in promoting the Guru’s teachings among the masses.

Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji’s teachings inspire societal unity and youth guidance, notes MLA

MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal added, “Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji’s message encourages humanity to rise above caste and social divisions and dedicate itself to serving mankind.” He also noted that the 650th Prakash Purab will be celebrated on a grand historic scale in 2027. “Under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government has begun a year-long series of samagams from February 4 to commemorate the 649th Prakash Purab. Such events play a key role in promoting societal unity, communal harmony, and positive guidance for youth,” he said.

Dr. Jasvir Singh Garhi, Chairman of the Punjab State SC Commission, said, “Through his teachings and actions, Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji fought social evils and laid the foundation of an equality-based society.” He further noted that inspired by the Guru’s philosophy, the Punjab Government continues to work towards social justice, inclusion, and the upliftment of weaker sections.

The event was also attended by senior officials, including DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, SSP Sandeep Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nikas Kumar, as well as SDMs Oaishi Mandal, Sanjeev Kumar, Kanwaljit Singh, Lovepreet Singh, and Assistant Commissioner Parmpreet Singh, among other civil and police officers.
