Adopting a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption, the Vigilance Bureau Punjab has arrested Shankar Singh, a Counsellor posted at the De-addiction Centre in Civil Hospital Bareta, district Mansa. He was taken into custody for allegedly obtaining his job on the basis of a fake degree and forged certificates.
Disclosing the details, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau Punjab stated that the accused, Shankar Singh, is a resident of village Bhunder Bhaini in tehsil Moonak, district Sangrur. The action was initiated following a complaint that raised doubts about the authenticity of his educational qualifications.
Punjab Vigilance Bureau Cracks Down on Fake Degree Recruitment Case
During the investigation, the Office of the Civil Surgeon, Mansa, conducted verification of degrees and certificates of Counsellors and Computer Operators who were recruited through outsourcing by Innovision Limited, a private company, in the year 2023. Upon scrutiny, it was discovered that Shankar Singh had secured the position of Counsellor by submitting a bogus degree and fake certificate.

Following the confirmation of the irregularities, a case has been registered against the accused under various relevant sections of law at the Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Range Bathinda. The authorities have stated that further investigation into the matter is currently underway to determine if any additional individuals were involved or if similar discrepancies exist in other appointments.
The Vigilance Bureau reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in government institutions and warned that strict action would continue against those found guilty of corruption or fraudulent practices.
