Chandigarh : As the decisive ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, launched under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, enters its 30th day, Punjab Police carried out 645 raids across identified and mapped locations associated with gangsters on Thursday.
The campaign, initiated by DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, aims to make Punjab a gangster-free state. Coordinated operations involving police teams from all districts along with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) have been ongoing across the state.
Punjab Police Arrest 236, Apprehend 12 Proclaimed Offenders on Day 30 of Gangstran Te Vaar
On Day 30, Punjab Police arrested 236 individuals and recovered four weapons, taking the total arrests under the campaign to 10,214 so far. Additionally, preventive action was taken against 79 persons, while 121 individuals were verified and released after questioning. 12 proclaimed offenders (POs) were also apprehended during the operations.

In parallel, the Punjab Police continued its ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ anti-drug campaign on its 355th day, arresting 100 drug smugglers and seizing 7.7 kg heroin, 100 grams opium, 6,631 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and Rs 8,760 in drug money. This brings the total number of drug smugglers arrested to 50,338 in 355 days.
As part of the de-addiction initiative, Punjab Police also persuaded 37 individuals to undergo rehabilitation and treatment on Thursday, further reinforcing the government’s commitment to a safer and drug-free Punjab.
