Punjab Police on Tuesday carried out 630 raids across the state on the 28th day of the ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, targeting locations linked to associates of gangsters. The decisive anti-gangster drive was launched on January 20, 2026, under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and led by DGP Gaurav Yadav, with the aim of making Punjab gangster-free.
Punjab Police and AGTF Arrest 156, Seize Weapons on Day 28 of ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’
District police teams, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), have been conducting sustained operations throughout the state. On Day 28, Punjab Police arrested 156 individuals and recovered four weapons, raising the total number of arrests to 9,782 since the campaign began. Preventive action was taken against 88 persons, while 190 individuals were detained, verified, and released after questioning. Four proclaimed offenders were also apprehended during the operation.

Simultaneously, Punjab Police continued its anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” which has now entered its 353rd day. On Tuesday, 84 drug smugglers were arrested, and 2.1 kg heroin, 92 kg poppy husk, 720 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and ₹11,400 in drug money were seized. The total number of drug smugglers arrested during the 353-day drive has reached 49,974. As part of de-addiction efforts, 55 individuals were persuaded to undergo rehabilitation treatment.
