Punjab Police Conduct 647 Raids, Arrest 245 in ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ Campaign

Day 33 of the statewide campaign sees nine proclaimed offenders arrested; anti-drug drive continues with 91 smugglers apprehended.

Chandigarh – As the decisive ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, launched under the direction of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, enters its 33rd day, Punjab Police conducted 647 raids across identified locations linked to gangster associates on Sunday.

The campaign, launched by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, aims to make Punjab a gangster-free state. Punjab Police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, have been conducting special operations statewide.

Punjab Police Arrest 245 Gang Associates on Day 33 of ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ Campaign

On Day 33, the Punjab Police arrested 245 individuals and recovered four weapons. Since the launch of the campaign, total arrests have reached 10,874. Preventive action was also taken against 100 persons, while 142 were verified and released after questioning. Additionally, nine proclaimed offenders (POs) were apprehended during the operations.

Citizens are encouraged to share information about wanted criminals and gangsters anonymously through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.

In parallel, the Punjab Police continued its anti-drug drive, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, for the 358th consecutive day. On Sunday, 91 drug smugglers were arrested, and authorities seized 1.9 kg of heroin, 200 grams of opium, 1,012 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and Rs 5,870 in drug money. Since the launch of this drive, a total of 50,811 drug smugglers have been arrested.

As part of de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police persuaded 39 individuals to undergo rehabilitation and treatment on Sunday.
