Chandigarh: Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh has announced a significant expansion in the Punjab Health Card Scheme, aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for residents across the state. The move includes the addition of more treatments and surgeries under the existing health coverage program.
Expansion of Punjab Health Card Scheme for Better Treatment Access
The updated Punjab Health Card Scheme now includes 17 additional diseases and surgical procedures, allowing beneficiaries to receive a wider range of treatments. This step is expected to reduce financial pressure on families needing critical medical care.
Officials said the expansion strengthens the overall healthcare safety net for citizens.
Health Card Covers ₹10 Lakh Per Family
Under the Punjab Health Card Scheme, eligible families receive health coverage of up to ₹10 lakh. This ensures financial protection during serious illnesses and major surgeries.
The government emphasized that the scheme is designed to provide cashless treatment in both government and empanelled private hospitals.
