Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann suspends Amritsar SSP Maninder Singh for failing to act against gangsters as AAP faces criticism over law-and-order issues.

Amritsar SSP Maninder Singh was suspended by the Punjab government on Saturday, November 15, 2025, for allegedly failing to take firm action against gangsters.

In a statement, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann ordered his suspension and stated that no leniency of any type would be accepted in the fight against gangsters. This is the main action against an IPS officer that the AAP government has taken.

Following instances of gangsters and criminals firing the AAP government and extortion bids, opposition parties have been criticizing the administration over the subject of peace and order.

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal had promised to rid the State of gangsters and advised them to leave the State within a week while campaigning for the Tarn Taran by-election.|
