Punjab govt provides ₹26.06 crore aid to 69,110 mothers this year, ensuring financial support, nutrition, and child healthcare under CM Mann.
The Punjab govt, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is still implementing people-centric policies to improve maternal and child health security and guarantee the welfare of women. The Punjab government has provided ₹26.06 crore in financial aid to expectant and nursing mothers in this regard during the current fiscal year.
Dr. Baljit Kaur, Punjab’s Minister for Social Security, Women, and Child Development, made this statement while emphasizing the government’s dedication to welfare initiatives that are focused on women. Dr. Baljit Kaur gave more information, stating that the program provides ₹5,000 in financial aid upon the birth of the first child, which is disbursed in two installments of ₹3,000 and ₹2,000.
If the second kid is a girl, she continued, financial aid of ₹6,000 is given in one installment at the time of the child’s birth. The Minister stressed that in order to guarantee openness and prompt assistance, the full sum is deposited straight into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
According to the Cabinet Minister, 69,110 expectant and nursing mothers have benefited from the program thus far this fiscal year. She added that the Punjab government has set a goal to reach 1.14 lakh women who will benefit from this program in the fiscal year 2025–2026. Dr. Baljit Kaur underlined that the program is a major step in improving mother health, nutrition, and newborn care rather than just providing cash support. She reaffirmed that the Punjab government is dedicated to making sure that every child has a safe and healthy start in life and that no mother is denied access to necessary healthcare services because of financial limitations.
“The Mann Government remains fully committed to the welfare of women and children, and making sure that the benefits of government schemes reach every eligible beneficiary remains the top priority,” she stated, restating the government’s determination.
