Punjab Elderly Welfare Initiative: Reaffirming the Punjab government’s commitment to the welfare of senior citizens, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Baljit Kaur said that elderly people are the pride of society and deserve dignity, care, and support in every stage of life. As part of this commitment, the state government has taken significant steps to strengthen facilities under the Punjab Elderly Welfare Initiative.
The minister stated that the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has been continuously working to improve services and living conditions for senior citizens residing in old age homes across the state.
Punjab Elderly Welfare Initiative Receives Major Financial Support
To enhance the functioning and infrastructure of old age homes, the Punjab government has released ₹4.10 crore for the improvement of 15 old age homes across the state. According to Baljit Kaur, the funds will be utilized to upgrade facilities, improve services, and ensure a more comfortable environment for elderly residents.
She said that the Punjab Elderly Welfare Initiative aims to provide senior citizens with quality care and necessary support while ensuring that institutions serving them are equipped with adequate resources.

Dedicated Helpline Continues to Assist Elderly Citizens
Highlighting another important welfare measure, Baljit Kaur said that the dedicated helpline number 14567 is already operational for senior citizens. The helpline provides assistance, guidance, and support to elderly residents facing various issues and serves as an important platform for addressing their concerns.
She added that the helpline has become an effective tool in connecting senior citizens with government services and welfare programmes under the Punjab Elderly Welfare Initiative.
