CHANDIGARH, February 3, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann arrived in Mumbai today for a high-profile two-day visit. He aims to secure fresh capital for the state by meeting top business leaders. This visit marks a crucial step in the “Mission Investment” initiative. The Chief Minister will personally invite industry giants to the upcoming 6th Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit.
The Chief Minister’s schedule includes one-on-one meetings with heads of major corporate houses. He plans to highlight the state’s industrial reforms and stable governance. Moreover, the visit focuses on sectors like textiles, food processing, and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing. Mann intends to position Punjab as the preferred destination for domestic and global industry.
Strategic Outreach for Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026
Bhagwant Mann is leaving no stone unturned for the summit scheduled for March 13–15 in Mohali. Recently, the Chief Minister led delegations to Japan and South Korea. These trips successfully generated interest in smart farming and advanced manufacturing. However, the Mumbai visit remains vital for domestic expansion.
Additionally, the state government recently launched the FastTrack Punjab Portal. This system offers over 150 business services online. Consequently, investors can now receive in-principle approvals within just three days. Furthermore, the state has facilitated over Rs 1.4 lakh crore in on-ground investments since 2022. This track record serves as a strong foundation for today’s discussions in Mumbai.
Focus on Emerging Sectors and Fiscal Incentives
During his meetings, the Chief Minister will emphasize the new Industrial and Business Development Policy. This policy provides 100% exemption from stamp duty for new units. Additionally, the state offers significant electricity duty exemptions for seven years. These incentives target ultra-mega projects and MSMEs alike.
Moreover, the recent Union Budget 2026 earmarked Rs 900 crore for the Mohali semiconductor lab. This development enhances Punjab’s appeal for high-tech electronics manufacturing. Chief Minister Mann believes that combining central support with state-level reforms will create massive job opportunities.
Strengthening Economic Ties with Corporate India
The Punjab delegation includes senior officials and Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora. They will present the state’s robust infrastructure and seamless connectivity to NCR. In fact, Punjab’s strategic location makes it a gateway to North Indian markets.
Furthermore, the state is aggressively promoting a circular economy and green energy. Many units in Ludhiana are already shifting toward EV component production. Therefore, Mann’s pitch in Mumbai will likely attract players from the renewable energy sector.
A Vision for Future Industrial Growth
This Mumbai trip is part of a broader global outreach program. Following this, the Chief Minister plans to visit the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. These efforts demonstrate a proactive approach to economic recovery.
By engaging directly with Mumbai’s business elite, Mann hopes to bridge the gap between policy and execution. He remains confident that Punjab’s “red carpet” welcome will result in significant MOUs today.
