The Punjab Government has disbursed ₹1,147 crore under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana, providing direct financial assistance to nearly 33 lakh women across the state through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The initiative marks the successful completion of the scheme’s first payment cycle, aimed at strengthening financial security and empowering women.
Nearly 33 Lakh Women Receive Direct Financial Assistance
Under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana, eligible women from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category received ₹4,500, covering three monthly instalments of ₹1,500 each. Beneficiaries from all other categories received ₹3,000, comprising three monthly instalments of ₹1,000 each.
The payments were credited directly into the bank accounts of eligible women whose registrations were completed by June 25, 2026, ensuring transparency and timely delivery of benefits.
More Than 66 Lakh Women Registered Across Punjab
The Punjab Government said registrations under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana are continuing across the state, with more than 66 lakh women enrolled so far. Women registering after the June 25 deadline will be included in the upcoming payment cycle.
The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every eligible beneficiary receives financial assistance without delays.
Dr. Baljit Kaur Highlights Transparent Benefit Transfer
Punjab Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development Dr. Baljit Kaur said the successful completion of the first payment cycle reflects the government’s commitment to delivering financial support directly to beneficiaries.
She said the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana has been introduced to provide financial security and dignity to women while ensuring complete transparency in benefit distribution.
The minister also clarified that the scheme does not affect any existing welfare benefits. Women already receiving widow pensions, disability pensions, or old-age pensions will continue to receive those benefits separately, making this scheme an additional layer of social security.
Women Share Stories of Financial Independence
Across Punjab, several beneficiaries described receiving the first instalment as a life-changing experience.
Kuldeep Kaur from Mustaba Jatta village in Gurdaspur district said receiving ₹4,500 directly into her bank account gave her financial independence for the first time.

Harmeet Kaur from Ghummankalan village said she learned about the scheme during a village awareness camp. She plans to use the money for household needs and personal expenses, adding that the initiative sends a strong message that daughters are an asset to every family and deserve equal opportunities.
Financial Support Brings Relief to Vulnerable Families
Kiran, a widow from Dhuri in Sangrur district, said the assistance would help her manage household expenses at a time when there is no earning member in her family.
Reeta, a daily wage labourer from Gurdaspur district, said she completed her registration with help from the local Anganwadi Centre. She noted that the financial assistance has eased some of her family’s economic burden and allowed her to spend on her personal needs.

The Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana has emerged as one of Punjab’s major women-centric welfare initiatives, offering direct financial support through DBT while promoting transparency and financial inclusion.
