NEW DELHI – Member of Parliament Malvinder Singh Kang raised a vital public issue in the Lok Sabha on Friday. Speaking under Rule 377, he sought urgent Central Government assistance for Shri Charan Chhoh Ganga Sachkhand. This sacred site, located in Khuralgarh Sahib within Hoshiarpur’s Garhshankar tehsil, holds immense spiritual value. Specifically, it is a cornerstone of the heritage of Guru Ravidas Ji and the Ravidasia community.
Kang emphasized that the site attracts millions of pilgrims annually from across India. Despite this high footfall, the location lacks integrated heritage development planning. Furthermore, it has not yet received significant financial support from existing Central pilgrimage schemes. The MP argued that this infrastructure gap limits local livelihoods and hinders inclusive cultural tourism.

To address these challenges, Kang called for a coordinated effort between the Centre and the Punjab Government. He specifically urged the inclusion of Khuralgarh Sahib under the PRASHAD or Swadesh Darshan schemes. These initiatives provide the necessary framework for heritage preservation and infrastructure growth. Consequently, improved facilities would ensure the dignity, safety, and comfort of visiting devotees.
Moreover, the spiritual heritage of Guru Ravidas Ji belongs to the entire nation. MP Kang highlighted that developing such sites is a collective responsibility. By enhancing the site, the government can promote the teachings of equality and humanity championed by the Guru.
