Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, on Monday approved the ambitious ‘Meri Rasoi’ Yojna, described as a major step forward in expanding benefits for registered National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 beneficiaries.
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak lauded the Chief Minister for initiating this unprecedented pro-people measure, emphasizing that the scheme has been designed keeping the welfare of the beneficiaries in mind.

Currently, Punjab has 40 lakh NFSA beneficiaries, who were previously entitled only to wheat. Under the new scheme, which is set to begin from April 1, 2026, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department will provide specialized ration kits to beneficiaries every three months.

Meri Rasoi : Each kit will contain –
- 2 kg Dal
- 2 kg Sugar
- 1 kg Iodized Salt
- 200 grams Turmeric Powder
- 1 Litre Mustard Oil
The initiative aims to ensure a more comprehensive and nutritious food supply for the state’s NFSA cardholders, strengthening food security and supporting underprivileged families across Punjab.
