Central Government increases petrol and diesel prices by ₹3 per litre aPunjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has launched a strong attack on the Central Government, alleging that recent economic decisions are negatively impacting farmers across the country. In a sharp statement shared through Aam Aadmi Party Punjab’s official social media handle, he Harpal slams Modi govt over the simultaneous increase in fuel prices and only a marginal rise in Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy.

According to the statement, the Harpal slams Modi govt remarks highlight that the increase in petrol and diesel prices by around ₹3 per litre will directly raise the cost of agricultural operations. Farmers, who heavily depend on diesel for irrigation, transport, and machinery, are expected to face additional financial burden due to rising input costs.

Fuel Price Hike vs MSP Revision: Concerns Over Farmer Income Neutralization

The minister further argued that the Harpal slams Modi govt criticism is based on the contradiction between fuel price hikes and MSP revision. While the government has announced a ₹72 per quintal increase in paddy MSP, AAP Punjab claims this marginal benefit is effectively neutralized by the higher cost of diesel and other agricultural inputs.

In his statement, the Harpal slams Modi govt attack emphasized that such policy decisions create an imbalance in the agricultural economy. Farmers, already dealing with rising costs of seeds, fertilizers, and labour, are left with reduced real income despite the MSP revision.

AAP Punjab also stated that the Harpal slams Modi govt position reflects growing dissatisfaction among farming communities, who feel that government policies are not aligned with their financial realities. The party accused the Centre of prioritizing revenue generation over farmer welfare.

Harpal Slams Modi Govt: Rural Distress and Rising Fuel Costs Deepen Economic Concerns

The statement further added that the Harpal slams Modi govt criticism is not just political but highlights a deeper concern regarding rural distress. It argued that even small changes in fuel prices have a cascading effect on agriculture, transport, and food prices.

Concluding the remarks, the Harpal slams Modi govt message called for urgent policy correction, demanding that the Centre ensure fair MSP benefits are not offset by rising fuel costs. The statement reiterated that farmers must receive real financial relief instead of symbolic price adjustments.

The issue has added to the ongoing political debate between the Centre and opposition parties over agricultural policy, inflation, and farmer welfare in India.nd then gives a marginal MSP increase of just ₹72 per quintal on paddy. This is a direct assault on farmers’ incomes. By giving a token MSP hike and raising diesel prices the very next day, the India
Government has effectively robbed farmers of their rightful compensation. BJP’s anti-farmer and anti-people face is now visible to everyone.
