Dr. Tejpal Singh Gill Takes Charge as Chairman of PUNGRAIN, Vows Pro-Farmer Reforms

In a significant administrative development, Dr. Tejpal Singh Gill officially assumed the role of Chairman of the Punjab State Grains Procurement Corporation Limited (PUNGRAIN) on 26 May 2025. The ceremony took place at Anaaj Bhawan, Sector 39-C, Chandigarh, in the esteemed presence of Member of Parliament Sh. Meet Hayer and Punjab Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond.
PUNGRAIN, a vital state-run organization responsible for the procurement and storage of food grains in Punjab, now comes under the leadership of Dr. Tejpal Singh Gill—whose appointment signals a renewed focus on efficiency, transparency, and farmer-centric policies.
A Leader with a Mission
In his address after taking charge, Dr. Gill expressed heartfelt gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for the faith and responsibility entrusted to him.
“I am deeply honored and thankful to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for this opportunity. PUNGRAIN plays a crucial role in ensuring the welfare of Punjab’s farmers. I assure every stakeholder—from our annadatas to the employees within the system—that I will leave no stone unturned in strengthening grain procurement, streamlining storage, and making farmer benefits a priority,” said Dr. Gill.

The event witnessed the participation of several senior leaders and dignitaries who joined in extending their best wishes to the newly appointed Chairman. Present at the event were MLAs Labh Singh Ugoke, Jeewan Singh Sangowal, and Hakam Singh Thekedar; Mandi Board Chairman Harcharan Singh Barsat; MARKFED Chairman Aman Mohi; Planning Board Chairman Sharanpal Singh Makkar; and Director of Food and Supplies Varinder Kumar Sharma.
