New Year 2026 celebrated at Darbar Sahib, Amritsar with Gurbani, Waheguru chants, prayers for peace, prosperity, and community Langar.
Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib ( Darbar Sahib ) in Amritsar, Punjab, witnessed an incredible demonstration of faith and devotion on the auspicious occasion of New Year 2026. Prayers for peace, prosperity, happiness, and everyone’s well-being were offered by the thousands of devotees who came from all over the nation and beyond to pay their respects and greet the new year.
Late on December 31, crowds started to assemble, and by midnight, the recital of Gurbani and the chanting of “Waheguru” filled the whole Darbar Sahib complex. Devotees bowed their heads in adoration as the New Year began, asking for blessings in a calm and intensely spiritual setting. The sangat was still very enthusiastic in spite of the winter cold. Children, senior devotees, families, and many young people were observed patiently waiting in lines to offer prayers.
On this occasion, the holy place was visited by a number of social and political leaders in addition to members of the general public. At Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Bathinda MP Bibi Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal offered prayers for harmony, peace, and advancement in Punjab and the country. Gurjeet Singh Aujla, the MP for Amritsar, took part in the prayers as well. People from many walks of life, including members of the Punjabi film industry, came to the Guru’s residence to ask for blessings.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and the district administration made complex administrative and security measures in light of the large attendance. Sewadars, or volunteers, continued to be actively involved in controlling the movement of devotees and making sure everything worked smoothly throughout the complex.
In keeping with the values of equality and service that the sacred site upholds, thousands of devotees gathered and shared a communal dinner at the Guru Ka Langar.
