On Wednesday, a wave of loss went all over Punjab after a tragic traffic accident killed five schoolchildren and a driver on the Samana-Patiala route. What began as a routine school day turned into a nightmare that no family wants to experience.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, visibly moved by the news, expressed his deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. “This is a loss no parent should ever have to go through,” he said. “My prayers are with the families. I hope they find the strength to cope with this unbearable pain, and may the departed souls find peace.”
The accident didn’t just take lives — it left many others in distress. Eight more children were injured and are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across Patiala. The Chief Minister shared that he has been in constant contact with the local administration and has asked them to ensure that the best medical care is given to every child.
“This is not just a government matter — this is personal,” said Mann. “Each child hurt in this tragedy is like our own. We are doing everything to support them and their families.”
