Hoshiarpur, Punjab: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed gratitude to the people who attended the “People’s Meet” in Bihala village of Hoshiarpur, stating that the overwhelming response reflects the public’s faith in the government’s governance model and welfare policies.
Mann said that the continuous support from citizens has strengthened the government’s resolve to accelerate Punjab Development Initiatives aimed at ensuring prosperity and inclusive growth across the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Punjab is witnessing unprecedented development due to a series of people-centric reforms and welfare measures. He noted that the trust shown by the people serves as motivation for the government to work harder for the state’s progress.
According to Mann, the government’s focus remains on delivering transparent governance, improving public services, and creating opportunities for every section of society through various Punjab Development Initiatives.

Anti-Sacrilege Law and Women-Centric Scheme Highlighted
The Chief Minister highlighted the recently enacted stringent anti-sacrilege law that prescribes life imprisonment for sacrilege-related offences. He described the legislation as a historic step taken in line with the sentiments of the people of Punjab.
Mann also announced that the Mothers Daughters Respect Scheme will be launched from July 1. He said the initiative will further strengthen social welfare measures and support women across the state.
He added that such reforms are important milestones under the broader framework of Punjab Development Initiatives being implemented by the state government.
Free Power, Healthcare and Merit-Based Jobs Among Key Achievements
Highlighting the government’s welfare programmes, Mann said that nearly 90 percent of households in Punjab are receiving zero electricity bills under the free power scheme. He also pointed to free healthcare facilities and ongoing efforts to regulate private school fee practices.
The Chief Minister further emphasized that government jobs are now being provided strictly on merit, ensuring equal opportunities for deserving youth. He said these measures demonstrate the government’s commitment to transparency and public welfare.
₹51 Lakh Grant for Bihala Village Development
During the event, Bhagwant Mann handed over a cheque worth ₹51 lakh to the village panchayat for the overall development of Bihala village. The grant will be utilized for the construction of a new Anganwadi Centre and a Community Hall.
The Chief Minister said that strengthening rural infrastructure remains a crucial component of the state’s Punjab Development Initiatives. He stressed that villages are the foundation of Punjab’s growth and must be equipped with better facilities and services.
Government Committed to Prosperous Villages Across Punjab
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to rural development, Mann said that every village in Punjab should benefit from modern infrastructure and welfare schemes. He assured residents that the government will continue working to transform villages into prosperous and self-reliant communities.
