In a significant breakthrough under the ongoing drive to make Punjab a drug-free state, the Counter Intelligence (CI) unit of Amritsar has dismantled a drug trafficking network, arresting three individuals and recovering 6 kg of heroin and 6 kg of ICE (Crystal Methamphetamine), said Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on Monday.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Partap Singh from Village Sursingh Wala, Ferozepur; Ajaypal Singh from Village Kohala, Amritsar; and Jobandeep Singh from Village Khiala Kalan, Amritsar. Police also seized the black Splendor motorcycle (PB02FE1185) and white Activa scooter (PB02ET8995) used to transport the narcotics. Preliminary investigations indicate that Partap Singh and Ajaypal Singh were in direct contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler.

According to the DGP, the accused were receiving consignments smuggled from across the border via drones, specifically from the fenced areas of villages Atalgarh and Rattan in Amritsar. These consignments were then supplied to other parties across the state.
