Aman Arora Urges Strong Action Against Terrorists After Pahalgam Attack
In a strong condemnation of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab’s Good Governance and Information Technology Minister, Aman Arora, expressed deep grief and solidarity with the victims and their families. The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals and left over 20 others injured. The assailants, identified as members of The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, targeted non-Muslim tourists, raising concerns over religious profiling and security lapses in the region.
Minister Arora, accompanied by Member of Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, and MLAs Jasbir Singh Raja Gill and Karambir Singh Ghuman, paid obeisance at Bade Hanuman Ji Mandir and Kesho Mandir in remembrance of the victims. He emphasized that the entire nation stands in solidarity with the aggrieved families during this hour of grief and crisis.
Arora termed the attack as a Pakistan-sponsored act of terrorism and called for decisive action to eliminate the perpetrators. He urged the Union Government to take stringent measures against terror activities and eliminate the attackers at their homes. “It is high time to destroy the nefarious designs of the hostile neighbor,” he stated.
The Minister also expressed concern over the lack of intelligence input and the insufficient deployment of armed forces in highly vulnerable areas of the valley. He highlighted that approximately 1,80,000 posts are vacant in the army and emphasized the need to fill these vacancies to safeguard the nation from internal and external threats.
Arora criticized the delayed response of security forces during the attack, noting that family members of the victims raised questions about the lack of action even after one and a half hours. He stressed the necessity for a full-time Home Minister to ensure the safety and security of the 140 crore population of the country.
The Pahalgam terror attack has drawn widespread condemnation from various quarters, including political leaders, security experts, and the general public. The incident has reignited debates over border security, intelligence gathering, and the need for a robust counter-terrorism strategy.
In response to the attack, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has initiated an investigation and is working closely with local law enforcement agencies to apprehend the remaining suspects. Sketches of three terrorists believed to be involved in the attack have been released to the public, and security forces are conducting raids in various locations to gather intelligence and make arrests.
The attack has also strained diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry expressed condolences to the families of the victims but dismissed allegations of its involvement in the attack. In retaliation, Pakistan suspended visas issued to Indian nationals and closed its airspace to Indian aircraft, escalating tensions in the region.
