Punjab’s public healthcare landscape has witnessed a major shift under the Bhagwant Mann–led government, with Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs) emerging as a key foundation of accessible, affordable and quality primary healthcare. The latest State Report Card released by the Punjab Development Commission (PDC) reflects rising public trust in these clinics and endorses the healthcare reforms implemented by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
Based on patient feedback collected from 18,256 individuals across the state, the report reveals that nearly 96 per cent of patients were satisfied with the treatment they received at Aam Aadmi Clinics. The findings point to a clear transformation in primary healthcare delivery, moving away from years of limited access and neglect to a system characterised by reliability, timely care and public confidence—without imposing any financial burden on patients.
Free Medicines and Diagnostics Strengthen Trust in Aam Aadmi Clinics
According to the report, all patients visiting Aam Aadmi Clinics were provided medicines free of cost, with 92 per cent confirming they received every prescribed drug. Diagnostic services also saw significant improvement, as 94 per cent of patients said their recommended tests were conducted at the clinics themselves, entirely free of charge. This reflects the state government’s policy of treating healthcare as a basic right rather than a service dependent on income.

The report also underscores improvements in clinic infrastructure and patient dignity. Around 99 per cent of respondents said the clinic premises were clean and well-maintained, and an equal percentage reported the availability of proper seating arrangements. Additionally, 97 per cent confirmed access to drinking water, while 95 per cent expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness of toilet facilities, highlighting a strong focus on respectful and humane healthcare services.
Aam Aadmi Clinics Deliver Consistent Care Across Punjab
District-level data shows uniformly high satisfaction across regions including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, Hoshiarpur and Tarn Taran, indicating consistent service quality and effective monitoring throughout Punjab.
The Aam Aadmi Clinics programme has also played a crucial role in reducing out-of-pocket medical expenses for families and easing the load on secondary and tertiary hospitals by addressing health issues at the community level. Reaffirming its commitment, the Bhagwant Mann government has stated that it will continue to expand and strengthen Aam Aadmi Clinics , ensuring free, timely and quality healthcare for every resident of Punjab, close to their homes.
