Haryana’s Public Works (Buildings & Roads) and Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa chaired a meeting with officers of the Public Health Engineering Department at the Haryana Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh.
During the meeting, the Minister Ranbir Gangwa reviewed key issues and assessed the progress of projects related to drinking water supply, sewerage systems, and public health infrastructure across the state. He directed officials to ensure proper maintenance and regular cleaning of all water works, Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), and other public health facilities to provide improved services to citizens.
Surprise Inspections and Timely Project Completion
Minister Gangwa conducted surprise inspections of water works, STPs, and other establishments in multiple districts through video conferencing, issuing necessary instructions to the concerned officials. He emphasized that all projects must be completed within the prescribed timelines to prevent any inconvenience to the public.
Comprehensive Review of Water Supply Systems
The Minister Ranbir Gangwa sought detailed updates on various water supply projects, reviewing water sources, the areas and villages served, population coverage, supply capacity, and the functioning of Water Treatment Plants (WTPs). He stressed proper maintenance of storage tanks, hygiene standards, and regular cleaning to ensure safe drinking water.

Officials were instructed to conduct routine water testing, strengthen monitoring of water quality, and maintain pipelines efficiently. Gangwa also directed the identification of villages facing water shortages and the development of alternative water sources, including new tubewells in areas with low groundwater levels. Pipeline leakages and complaints about contaminated water were to be addressed as a priority, and new pipelines must be laid separately from sewer lines to prevent contamination.
Preparations for the Summer Season : Ranbir Gangwa
With the upcoming summer season in mind, the Minister called for special monitoring in regions that faced water scarcity in previous years. He instructed coordination with district administration, electricity, and communication departments to ensure uninterrupted water supply. Awareness campaigns to prevent water wastage and promote conservation were also ordered, with active participation from schools, youth groups, local bodies, and gram panchayats.
Green and Clean Premises
Ranbir Gangwa directed officials to enhance greenery around water works, new booster stations (NBS), STPs, and other public health facilities by planting saplings and flowers. Regular cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation checks were emphasized to maintain safe and attractive premises. Officers managing pumps efficiently were to be rewarded with appreciation certificates to encourage a positive work culture.
Focus on Solar Energy and STP Water Reuse
The Minister Ranbir Gangwa highlighted the importance of installing solar energy systems at water works, NBS, STPs, and other facilities to reduce operational costs and reliance on conventional electricity. He also directed officials to accelerate plans for reusing treated STP water by 2028 to ensure optimal utilization of water resources.
Minister Ranbir Gangwa wa concluded by reiterating that providing safe drinking water and improved sewerage facilities is a top priority for the government. He emphasized that officers must execute their responsibilities diligently, maintaining transparency, accountability, and quality standards in all development projects.
