Haryana CM Nayab Saini Releases NABARD State Focus Paper, Priority Sector Credit at ₹3.67 Lakh Crore

Haryana aims to boost agriculture, MSMEs, women entrepreneurship, and rural infrastructure with ₹3.67 lakh crore priority sector credit.

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini, addressing the State Level Credit Seminar organized by NABARD, emphasized the importance of making agriculture profitable to achieve rural prosperity. He noted that while Haryana has been crucial to the nation’s food security, challenges such as declining groundwater, soil degradation, shrinking landholdings, climate change, and rising costs require innovative solutions, technology adoption, and strong institutional financial support.

During the event, CM Nayab Saini released the NABARD State Focus Paper 2026-27, which estimates Haryana’s priority sector credit potential at ₹3.67 lakh crore, a 17% increase from the previous year. Of this, ₹1.32 lakh crore is earmarked for agriculture and ₹2.11 lakh crore for MSMEs. Several committees were felicitated for their performance.

The CM  Nayab Saini highlighted the need to implement strategies like “Per Drop – More Crop” and “more production with less land”, alongside robust rural infrastructure, including irrigation, storage, roads, electricity, and digital connectivity. He announced plans to develop Smart Agriculture Zones and crop-specific clusters for kinnow, guava, strawberry, litchi, and other horticultural crops to encourage modern farming practices and crop diversification, including sugarcane cultivation.

CM Nayab Saini, Urges Stronger “Soil to Market” Linkages for Fair Prices and Credit Access

Nayab Saini emphasized strengthening linkages from “soil to machine and farm to market”, ensuring farmers get fair prices and market access, while urging banks to provide timely, simple, and transparent credit. He also highlighted the role of MSMEs, Self-Help Groups, women entrepreneurship, and cooperative institutions in driving rural economic growth.

Noting that Haryana has 710 PACS and computerized cooperative banks, the CM stressed the need to restore farmers’ trust in PACS, vital for rural development. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to PM Modi’s vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi” through initiatives like the “Meri Fasal Mera Byora” portal, fertilizer availability management, and subsidy savings of around ₹700 crore.
