Haryana CM Nayab Saini Announces ₹556 Crore Recovery from IDFC First Bank

Funds belonging to Haryana departments, boards, and corporations recovered with interest; high-level committee to ensure accountability

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday announced in the State Assembly that the government has successfully recovered ₹556 crore linked to the IDFC First Bank case, including nearly ₹22 crore in interest, within 24 hours.

During the ongoing budget session, the Chief Minister Nayab Saini stated that the full amount, belonging to various Haryana government departments, boards, and corporations, has been credited back to the respective accounts by the bank. He credited the swift recovery to coordinated efforts between the state government and senior IDFC First Bank officials.

Describing the recovered funds as the hard-earned money of 2.8 crore citizens of Haryana, Nayab Saini emphasised that every rupee will be safeguarded and utilised solely for public welfare. He also announced the formation of a high-level committee, led by the Finance Secretary, to investigate the matter in detail, determine accountability of the officials involved, and recommend further action if necessary.

CM Nayab Saini Reaffirms Strict Oversight and Financial Integrity in State Governance

Highlighting a shift in administrative culture, the Chief Minister Nayab Saini said the current government operates with complete transparency and strict financial discipline, ending the era of suppressing corruption files. He reaffirmed the administration’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, assuring that no public funds will be misused.

The Chief Minister Nayab Saini noted that the irregularities were primarily linked to the Chandigarh branch of IDFC First Bank, involving alleged collusion at middle and lower levels. He stressed that stringent action would be taken against all individuals found responsible, whether government employees or bank staff, and that accountability will be fixed without exception.

Nayab Saini concluded that the prompt recovery of funds demonstrates the government’s commitment to financial integrity, reinforcing public confidence in the system and ensuring that public money is protected and utilised for the benefit of the citizens.
