Ambala : Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij conducted an inspection of three major ongoing projects in Ambala Cantonment—Atal Mall & Bank Square, Night Food Street, and the Fire Brigade Building. The Minister directed officials and construction agencies to expedite remaining work, noting that all three projects are in their final stages.
These projects, being developed at a combined cost of approximately Rs. 200 crore, are expected to significantly benefit the public and mark key milestones in Ambala Cantonment’s overall development.
Atal Mall & Bank Square: Completion of First Phase Soon
During the inspection, Minister Vij stressed the urgent completion of the first phase of Atal Mall & Bank Square, enabling banks to shift operations without delay. The first phase, costing around Rs. 111 crore, is nearing completion, while tenders for the second phase will be awarded shortly.
The Minister highlighted that the relocation of banks to this complex will reduce congestion in existing markets and provide citizens with banking facilities under one roof. He also instructed officials to enhance public amenities such as benches and seating arrangements.
Officials confirmed that the first phase is expected to be completed by the end of March, with all 44 showrooms ready for occupancy. The building features three floors, with 17 showrooms on the first floor, 14 on the second, and 13 on the third. Additional facilities include four lifts, parking for 317 cars, and a 70 KLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).
The second phase will include 54 showrooms, five lifts, and an auditorium with 450 seats, with administrative approval of Rs. 64.47 crore already granted.
Night Food Street: Focus on Visitor Experience
At the Night Food Street on Jagadhri Road, Minister Vij instructed the Municipal Council to improve public facilities, including seating with waterproof umbrellas, decorative lighting, and shop shelves. The food street, developed at a cost of Rs. 5.5 crore, will host 60 shops—40 vegetarian and 20 non-vegetarian.
The venue will be air-conditioned, with adjacent parking and enhanced aesthetic features such as granite flooring. A waste treatment plant will be installed to manage wastewater and food waste generated from the shops.
Fire Brigade Building: Nearing Completion
Minister Vij also reviewed the progress of the Fire Brigade Building, which is 95% complete. The project, costing approximately Rs. 16 crore, comprises a three-storey main office and a five-storey residential block for staff.
The main building will accommodate 15 fire brigade vehicles and several operational rooms, while the residential block includes 10 three-bedroom flats for staff accommodation.
