Chandigarh : Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, addressing the ‘Sahitiyam-2026’ National Literature Festival at CGC University, Mohali, highlighted the pivotal role of youth in realizing the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat-2047’. He described the festival as more than just an event, calling it a platform where young minds contribute to nation-building with ideas, determination, and social consciousness. According to the Chief Minister, the concept of Viksit Bharat goes beyond economic or technological progress, emphasizing the creation of a society that is thoughtful, value-driven, and socially responsible.
CM Saini pointed out that India’s young population is its greatest strength, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047. He stressed that education must cultivate both skills and values, preparing students to become the leaders of a progressive nation. During the festival, he also participated in lighting the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Jyoti’, symbolizing collective commitment to nation-building.

Highlighting opportunities for youth, the Chief Minister noted India’s expanding sectors such as startups, innovation, digital technology, green energy, and self-reliance. He outlined initiatives by the Haryana government to empower youth through quality education, skill development, transparent recruitment, startup support, and sports promotion. He revealed that in the past year alone, 34,000 young people secured government jobs purely on merit, and over the last 11 years, 1.8 lakh youths have been employed based on merit. Efforts under the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam were also emphasized to enhance employment opportunities.
CM Saini also mentioned measures to curb illegal migration via the “donkey route,” including a landmark law passed in March 2025 regulating travel agents and preventing fraud. Over 1.14 lakh youths have received skill training for global employability, and provisions have been made for collateral-free loans up to ₹5 lakh for differently-abled entrepreneurs.

He urged students to become solution-oriented citizens, emphasizing that questioning and seeking answers strengthens democracy. CM Saini highlighted the importance of literature and culture in shaping socially conscious, confident individuals. He commended CGC University for fostering initiatives that promote leadership, patriotism, and confidence among youth, reiterating that the goal of Viksit Bharat is achievable through collective effort, strong leadership, and the energy of India’s young population.
The event was attended by former minister Manish Grover, CGC University Founder Chancellor Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, and other dignitaries and officials.
