CM Nayab Saini Strengthens Police Force with Modern Training, Rs 300 Crore Modernization Plan

SWAT Commandos Trained in Advanced Weapons and Specialized Skills at Panchkula Commando Centre; New Firing Simulator Inaugurated

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini emphasized the state government’s commitment to making Haryana’s law and order system a model for the country by enhancing the police force with modern resources, upgraded infrastructure, and advanced training programs. He revealed that Rs 300 crore is being allocated for police modernization and the recruitment process for 5,500 new personnel is currently underway.

The Chief Minister Nayab Saini made these remarks while addressing the valedictory ceremony of the sixth batch of the SWAT Commando Course at the Commando Training Centre in Panchkula. During the course, 88 personnel—including 11 PSIs and 77 other ranks—received training in modern weaponry and specialized operational skills.

At the event, CM Nayab Saini also inaugurated a state-of-the-art firing simulator, constructed at a cost of Rs 85 lakh. The facility integrates advanced technology with training exercises, providing personnel with realistic scenarios to enhance reaction times, firing accuracy, and decision-making skills. The simulator is expected to make training more scientific, effective, and results-oriented.

25,700 Personnel Trained So Far

Established in 1984, the Commando Training Centre in Panchkula has been offering formal commando training since March 4, 1985. Designed to prepare a highly skilled force for special operations, the centre spans approximately 12 acres and has become a symbol of bravery and professionalism within the Haryana Police. It currently offers 12 types of specialized courses, ranging from the Basic Commando Course to the SWAT Commando Course. To date, 25,700 personnel have been trained at the centre, serving both the state and the nation.

Focus on Advanced Technologies and Specialized Skills : Nayab Saini

Addressing the newly trained SWAT Commandos, CM Nayab Saini highlighted that becoming a SWAT commando represents not just a rank, but a responsibility to safeguard the state. The course equips personnel with expertise in anti-terror operations, close-quarters combat, drone operations, IED handling, and firefighting.

 Nayab Saini noted that contemporary security challenges have evolved beyond conventional crimes, including threats such as terrorism, organized crime, cyber-attacks, and drone-based incidents. In this context, specialized units like SWAT play a critical role. The Chief Minister assured that the Commando Training Centre will continue to adopt advanced technologies in the future, including simulation-based training, virtual reality modules, and joint inter-agency exercises. He emphasized that the government aims to ensure that every officer is fully prepared not just physically, but also mentally and technically.
