Gujarat: The Gujarat government presented its budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 today, drawing sharp criticism from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which claimed the budget fails to address the needs and aspirations of ordinary citizens.
AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava, commenting on the budget, said, “This budget disappoints every section of society, including the common man of Gujarat. While it appears to be a full-fledged financial plan, it does not serve the interests of the people.”

Chaitar Vasava pointed out that despite claims of economic growth and development, the budget lacks focus on sectors that directly impact daily life, such as healthcare, education, farmers’ welfare, and support for small businesses and labourers. He also noted that the allocations seem to prioritise large projects and government schemes rather than addressing the pressing needs of vulnerable communities.
MLA Chaitar Vasava Urges Revisions to Support Farmers, Small Traders, and Marginalised Groups
The AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava warned that unless the government takes immediate steps to ensure inclusive development, the budget could widen economic disparities and fail to provide meaningful relief to those who need it most. He urged the Gujarat government to consider revisions that truly support the common man, farmers, small traders, and other marginalised groups.
“The budget should be a tool to empower people, provide opportunities, and improve livelihoods,” Vasava said. “Unfortunately, this budget appears to prioritise government-centric projects over citizen welfare. Gujarat’s residents deserve a budget that reflects their real needs and aspirations.”

AAP leaders reiterated their commitment to holding the government accountable and demanded that provisions be made to ensure equitable growth and support for all sections of society, warning that the budget, in its current form, could disappoint a majority of the population.
