AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj questions Delhi CM and LG over illegal sand mining, urging immediate action from authorities.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj has raised serious concerns regarding illegal sand mining in Delhi, following findings by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that pointed to widespread unauthorized operations.

In a statement, Bhardwaj questioned why Chief Minister @gupta_rekha and Lieutenant Governor @LtGovDelhi have remained silent on the issue. He also highlighted the lack of visible action from the District Magistrate (DM) and Delhi Police Commissioner (DCP), despite repeated complaints from AAP representatives.

“Our MLA and DDC chairman had sent written complaints to the CM, LG, and CP. Why has no action been taken? Does this not point to possible connivance of the CM and LG in these illegal activities?” Bhardwaj asked, calling for urgent accountability.

He emphasized that illegal sand mining not only damages the environment but also threatens the safety and livelihood of local communities. The NGT had earlier documented several instances of unauthorized sand extraction across Delhi, urging authorities to take immediate action to curb the menace.

Political analysts note that Bhardwaj’s remarks are part of AAP’s ongoing campaign to hold the Delhi administration accountable on environmental and civic issues. The party aims to bring attention to what it sees as negligence in enforcing regulations and protecting natural resources.

The Delhi government has yet to respond to Bhardwaj’s allegations, but the issue is expected to intensify political scrutiny as environmental concerns gain prominence in the public discourse.
