AAP criticised BJP over toxic foam in the Yamuna, raising concerns about pollution, public safety and alleged political hypocrisy in Delhi.
New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a strong attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the presence of white toxic foam floating on the Yamuna river, questioning public safety and accusing the party of political hypocrisy.
Reacting sharply, AAP leaders remarked that the white layer on the river looked more like “snow” than water, underlining the alarming level of pollution in the Yamuna. The party said such conditions clearly reflect the failure of authorities to control untreated sewage and industrial waste flowing into the river.

AAP also took a swipe at BJP leaders for what it described as symbolic gestures around the river while ignoring its deteriorating condition. The party alleged that people have been encouraged to enter polluted water for political optics, which could seriously endanger public health.

Calling the situation unacceptable, AAP leaders warned that toxic foam contains harmful chemicals that may cause skin infections, breathing problems, and long-term health issues. They stressed that protecting citizens must take priority over political messaging.
The party further stated that cleaning the Yamuna requires consistent policy action, modern sewage treatment infrastructure, and strict monitoring of industrial discharge rather than publicity-driven initiatives.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders have not issued an official response to the allegations so far.
The Yamuna has remained a major environmental concern in Delhi for years, especially during winter months when foam formation increases due to low water flow and high pollution levels. Environmental groups continue to demand coordinated action between central and state authorities to restore the river’s ecological balance.
