New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP Delhi ) has launched a sharp criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Delhi for its alleged failure to clean the Yamuna River, despite repeated claims of having the “power of four engines” to manage governance effectively. AAP Delhi leaders accused the BJP of making false promises that have left both the public and animals, especially cows, suffering due to the poor condition of the river.
According to AAP Delhi, the Yamuna continues to face severe pollution, and the water remains unsafe for both human and animal consumption. The party warned that the ongoing neglect is not only a threat to public health but also to biodiversity and the environment. “The people, and even Mother Cow, are paying the price for BJP’s fake claims about Yamuna cleaning. Just imagine the suffering of thirsty animals drinking this water. At the very least, the government must ensure a clean river in the name of Mother Cow,” an AAP spokesperson said.
pic.twitter.com/DrJB5TGQdx

Environmentalists and social activists have also repeatedly raised concerns about the deteriorating state of the Yamuna, pointing out that rising pollution affects not only human health but also disrupts aquatic life and ecological balance. AAP Delhi ’s criticism comes ahead of public accountability events where the party has urged citizens to demand tangible action and hold the government responsible for unfulfilled environmental commitments.
The party called on the Delhi government to adopt a long-term, systematic plan for river cleanup, including proper sewage treatment, industrial waste management, and public awareness campaigns to ensure the Yamuna’s revival.
