Patna – Teen cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 14-year-old U19 World Cup hero, met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, and Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh at the Chief Minister’s House on Sunday. In recognition of his outstanding performance, Sooryavanshi was presented with a Rs 50 lakh cheque by the Bihar CM.

Sooryavanshi played a match-winning inning of 175 runs off 80 balls in the U19 World Cup final against England, featuring 15 fours and sixes each and reaching his century in just 55 balls—one of the fastest centuries in U19 World Cup history. His efforts helped India secure its sixth U19 World Cup title, earning him both Player of the Match in the final and Player of the Tournament honors. Across seven matches, the left-handed opener scored 439 runs at a strike rate of 169.50 and an average of 62.71, hitting the most sixes in the tournament with 30.

Sooryavanshi also holds several notable records. He is also India’s leading run-getter in U19 ODIs, amassing 1,412 runs in 25 innings at an average of 56.48 and a strike rate above 165, with four centuries and seven fifties, including a top score of 175.

Sooryavanshi Becomes Youngest IPL Player and Breaks Multiple Records

Since October 2024, Sooryavanshi has consistently grabbed headlines, beginning with a 58-ball century for India U19 against Australia in Chennai, the fastest by an Indian U19 batter in Youth Tests. In the IPL 2025 mega auction, he secured a deal worth Rs 1.1 crore with Rajasthan Royals, becoming the youngest IPL player ever. In a match against Gujarat Titans, he became the youngest T20 centurion and the first Indian to hit the fastest IPL fifty.
