Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Welcomes Union Budget 2026 as Progressive and Development-Oriented

Nitish Kumar praises initiatives for employment, trade, and higher education opportunities

Bihar :  Chief Minister Nitish Kumar praised the Union Budget following its presentation in Parliament, describing it as progressive, imaginative, and advantageous for Bihar’s long-term development. In a statement on his official Facebook profile, the Chief Minister said the Union Budget is constructive and welcoming. The central government’s budget considers the objectives of creating a developed India. It is progressive and visionary, and through this numerous critical measures have been taken to accelerate the pace of development of the country.

Highlighting the key infrastructure developments, Nitish Kumar said the intention to build seven high-speed rail corridors across the country will have a tremendous impact on Bihar. He claimed that the Varanasi-Siliguri high-speed rail corridor will benefit Bihar a lot. “The expansion of waterways will benefit many cities.”

The Chief Minister also praised the announcement of 20 additional national waterways. According to him, inland water transport will be strengthened by ship repair facilities in Varanasi and Patna. He stated that the expansion of waterways will benefit several cities of Bihar, allow export of state products and promote trade and commercial activity.

Referring to industrial growth and jobs, Kumar said the budget would create new employment possibilities with the assistance of Rs 40,000 crore for the Mahatma Gandhi Swarozgar Yojana, and the semiconductor industry. He further claimed that these efforts will create employment for the young of the entire country, especially Bihar, and expedite economic development.

According to the chief minister, the state’s urbanization would be accelerated by the provisions of urban development, which will boost investment and create jobs in cities. Nitish Kumar praised the introduction of dorms for girls in each district, saying it will greatly aid girls in pursuing higher education.
