Bihar CM Nitish Kumar addresses Darbhanga gathering, announces ‘Saat Nishchay-3’, and inaugurates ₹138 crore projects to boost state development.
Darbhanga: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressed a large gathering at Nagendra Jha Stadium on Wednesday during the ongoing Samriddhi Yatra, reiterating his resolve to transform Bihar into a developed state and place it among India’s top-performing states.
Recalling the progress made since November 24, 2005, the Chief Minister highlighted major improvements in law and order, education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and electricity supply. He said that the atmosphere of fear and insecurity that once existed in the state has been completely eliminated.
“Earlier, people hesitated to step out after sunset. Bihar is safe, and development is visible in every sector,” he remarked.
Major Achievements Outlined
The Chief Minister listed several key milestones achieved by the state:

Education: More than 5.24 lakh government teachers have been reinstated, with remaining vacancies set to be filled soon.

Health: Medical colleges are being established in every district. Patna will soon have a 5,000-bed medical facility, while older medical colleges are being expanded to 2,500 beds.

Connectivity: The target of reaching Patna from any district within six hours has been achieved.

Agriculture and Fisheries: Fish production has doubled over the past few years.

Electricity and Renewable Energy: Universal household electrification has been completed, and solar energy projects are being expanded.

Employment: Nearly 40 lakh people have secured jobs since 2005, with a new goal of creating one crore jobs.

Social Welfare: Pension increases now benefit around 1.3 crore citizens, while a caste-based survey has identified 94 lakh poor families for targeted development schemes.

Women Empowerment: Participation of women through JEEvika Didi initiatives has increased, along with enhanced opportunities for women across sectors.

CM Nitish Kumar underlined strong cooperation from the central government, citing significant budget allocations for Bihar in 2024. Initiatives such as the Makhana Board and Khelo India have also strengthened the state’s national identity.
‘Saat Nishchay-3’ Development Plan
Looking ahead, the Chief Minister announced the Saat Nishchay-3 roadmap for the next five years, which includes:

Setting up model schools and degree colleges in every block.

Reviving closed sugar mills across the state.

Installing rooftop solar panels in all households.

Restricting private practice for government doctors to strengthen public healthcare services.
He expressed confidence that these initiatives would further accelerate Bihar’s development and place the state among India’s growth leaders.
Infrastructure Projects in Darbhanga
During the visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated 50 projects worth ₹105 crore and an additional 40 projects worth ₹33 crore. He also reviewed progress at Darbhanga Airport, including terminal upgrades, runway expansion, cargo facilities, and road connectivity projects.
