Bihar CM Nitish Kumar receives overwhelming women support in Sitamarhi while inaugurating Rs 600 crore projects, including Chandauli Bridge.
Sitamarhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is on a statewide rally, visiting various districts to lay the foundation stones of development projects worth crores of rupees while engaging in public dialogue. On Monday, he reached Sitamarhi, where a remarkable feature of the programme was the overwhelming presence of women attendees. The crowd was largely composed of women, eager to welcome the Chief Minister, while men were comparatively fewer.
The full pandal of women highlighted the significant impact of Nitish Kumar’s schemes on women in Bihar. Many of them openly praised the Chief Minister for initiatives promoting employment and self-employment, which have provided financial support and opportunities.
Why women support Nitish Kumar:
The 2025 Bihar elections demonstrated that women voters strongly supported the NDA, placing faith in Nitish Kumar beyond caste, religion, or region. Women-centric policies, including prohibition, safety measures, and promises for a better future, have resonated deeply. Specific schemes, such as depositing Rs 10,000 into women’s accounts, increasing widow pensions, and providing free bicycles and uniforms to girl students, have further strengthened this support. The effective booth management of the NDA also contributed to mobilizing women voters.

Message from the women’s presence:
The enthusiasm of women at the meeting was evident as they attentively listened to the Chief Minister’s speech and repeatedly applauded him. Their overwhelming participation sends a clear message: women will continue to play a crucial role in shaping politics and development in Bihar.
Development initiatives in Sitamarhi:
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone and inaugurated projects worth around Rs 600 crore. This included the inauguration of the long-awaited Chandauli Bridge and the foundation of 41 development schemes costing Rs 346 crore. Completed projects worth over Rs 208 crore were also inaugurated.
Speaking at the event, Nitish Kumar said the construction of the Chandauli Bridge would improve connectivity between Sheohar and Motihari from Sitamarhi. Previously, annual flooding would damage the dam and disrupt road connectivity, causing hardships for locals. The new bridge will ensure safer and uninterrupted road traffic, alleviating the dangers posed by seasonal flooding.
