Bihar CM Nitish Kumar launches second phase of Samriddhi Yatra, announces ₹390+ crore projects, 1 crore jobs, and infrastructure development in Madhubani.
Bihar: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday inaugurated the second phase of his statewide Samriddhi Yatra from Madhubani, unveiling development projects worth over ₹390 crore. Kumar emphasized his government’s commitment to accelerating Bihar’s growth and placing the state among India’s developed regions within the next five years.
On the first day of the second phase, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for 101 new schemes valued at ₹298 crore and inaugurated 294 completed projects worth ₹93 crore in Madhubani district.
During a public meeting titled “Jan Samvad” in Araria Sangram, Jhanjharpur block, Kumar highlighted Bihar’s steady progress since 2005, crediting consistent policies and improved governance. Criticizing previous RJD governments, he said that Bihar before 2005 suffered from poor law and order, weak infrastructure, and limited access to education and healthcare. “Earlier, people were afraid to step out after sunset, roads were dilapidated, and basic facilities were missing. We addressed these challenges step by step,” he said.

From the recent caste-based survey, 94 lakh economically weaker families have been identified for priority financial support of up to ₹2 lakh to promote self-employment.

Madhubani Model Sadar Hospital will be upgraded to a super-speciality hospital.

A Centre of Excellence for sports will be established.

Milk collection centers will be opened in every panchayat, forming 1,024 milk cooperatives.

A separate Skill Development Department will be created.

Government doctors will be prohibited from private practice.

Construction of five new expressways across Bihar will begin.
Under the Saat Nischay–3 (7-Resolve 3) initiative, Kumar stressed women empowerment, promising double employment and double income. Women entrepreneurs who have received initial support will soon be given ₹2 lakh each to expand their businesses.

The Chief Minister emphasized that development work is visible across the state and schemes are being tailored according to district-specific needs based on public feedback.
Kumar also acknowledged the support of the Union government, citing the July 2024 Union Budget for roads, industries, health, tourism, and flood control, and the February 2025 Budget for projects including the Makhana Board, airport development, and the Western Kosi Canal. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for continued cooperation.
Renewing his political attack on RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, Kumar stated that previous governments failed to work for women and youth. “After stepping down, he made his wife chief minister. What tangible work was done for women or young people then?” he questioned.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, JD-U Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha, and others.
The first phase of the Samriddhi Yatra, held from January 16 to 24, covered districts including West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Gopalganj, Saran, Siwan, Muzaffarpur, and Vaishali. The second phase began on January 27, with Kumar visiting Madhubani, followed by Darbhanga on January 28 and Samastipur on January 29.
